General Manager

If you are interested in this challenge, you will report to the CEMENTIS Group CEO & COO. You will define and implement the management strategy in agreement with the shareholder, and ensure that objectives are met through an optimized, high-performance organization. You will also be responsible for representing the company with various external stakeholders, as and when required.

Your missions:

  • Develop your subsidiary’s strategy and translate it into high-level action plans, ensuring that they are aligned with short-, medium- and long-term objectives
  • Identify market trends and expectations in your territory, and design new offers to meet them or create new needs, with the aim of developing product sales
  • Select, manage and motivate employees, and coach them to achieve excellence
  • Oversee all operations (industrial activities, commercial & logistics) to ensure that they produce the desired results and are consistent with the company’s overall strategy and mission
  • Ensure compliance with Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental regulations by the teams under your authority
  • Enforce compliance with local legislation, legal guidelines and internal policies in order to preserve the company’s legal and ethical standards
  • Analyze problem situations and provide effective solutions to ensure business performance
  • Anticipate and continuously analyze all risks and opportunities related to the business, and take them into account when developing strategy to ensure the company’s sustainability and growth
  • Review financial and non-financial reports to devise solutions or improvements
  • Build trusting relationships with key partners and stakeholders
  • Maintain a good knowledge of markets and activities in the building materials sector

Your profile:

  • Proven experience (5 years minimum) in a management position in an industrial environment
  • Good knowledge of the economic and social environment of Mauritius
  • Recognized managerial skills and ability to develop the human potential and performance of teams
  • Experience and ability to grasp the cultural diversity of a regional group and the complexity of the economic, social and industrial environment
  • Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing a vision
  • Solid understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles
  • Good knowledge of the various functions within a company
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance best practices
  • You are fluent in English and French

Head of Terminal Operations
Educational Background / Qualifications:
  • Engineering Degree
Profile Experience required 
  • At least 7 years in a similar position
Technical competencies 
  • Good technical knowledge of production and maintenance in an industrial environment
  • In-depth knowledge of the of the construction, engineering and building materials activities
  • Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft office tools
  • Holder of a valid and clear driving license

Main Duties & Responsibilities 

Production Management:

Ensure production of various types of blended cement by mixing with local raw materials while maintaining a high quality standard and adequate buffer stock:

  • Liaising with local suppliers for continuous supply of quality raw materials and manage transport of same to terminal.
  • Ensure production to always have adequate buffer stock based on market demand.
  • Ensure proper sampling and testing of products and per quality standards.
  • Ensure optimization of product mix while maintaining quality standard to increase margin per product.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of blending plant to increase availability and reliability of plant.
  • With the Logistics department, coordinate inbound and outbound logistics actions.

Financial Management:

Ensures the sound management of the finances of the terminal operations by:

  • Preparing the annual budgets for terminal operations activities – OPEX and CAPEX
  • Respecting company’s procedures with regards to capital expenditures
  • Monitoring expenditures and taking appropriate actions to ensure that budgets are respected
  • Continuously challenging prices through proper quotations of materials and services to minimize operational costs.
  • Ensure proper trail for all operational expenditures carried out.
  • Ensure execution and verification of services that are being contract out while ensuring proper documentations.

Projects Management:

Effectively manage development projects transforming the business strategies and profitability:

  • Present project proposals to the management and group
  • Feasibility study and conceptual designs
  • Budgetary estimates and CAPEX requests
  • Planning of Project
  • Tendering and award of contracts for different category of works
  • Follow up of project execution until commissioning and startup phase.
  • Monitoring and approval of project budget and payments
  • Ensuring successful completion of project by respecting the four pillars: H&S, Time, Cost and Quality

Health and Safety Management:

Complies with Cementis Health & Safety Management by:

  • Abiding to  group Policies and following Procedures scrupulously
  • Having a knowledge of the main requirements of group standards and advisories
  • Reporting any dangerous situation, near misses or unsafe act/condition to management
  • Participating in and contributing to safety month activities or other safety related events organized by the company
  • Leading or attending tool box talks organized by your department
  • Maintaining all PPE issued to you by the company
  • Participating in the risk analysis of activities performed by you, as and when required
  • Keeping management informed of all new work process put in place in your department to enable a proper risk analysis
